UNFOUNDED ALLEGATIONS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The lit. Hon. J. G. Coates announces that the recent allegation that serviceable tools handed in on the .South Island Main Trunk railway works were destroyed is due to a misconception. Those which were, destroyed had been written oil or destroyed. Air. Coates explained that precautions were taken lo safeguard useful tools being written oil' or destroyed, and also lo prevent misappropriation. Nevertheless, he felt that much of tho material destroyed would lie of use to someone, and had therefore given definite orders that Hie destruction of tools regarded as unserviceable by the department was to cease immediately. Used tools arc to be. collected and offered for sale at the nearest centre. '
