PIGEONS
Judge: Mr. Reg. C. Hooper The judge of tlm pigeons, Mr. Reg. G. Hooper, remarked that entries came forward much better than was expected in view of the fact that it was now nesting time, a period during which breeders are loth to part their breeding pairs. The hnner section, he said, contained some very nice pigeons, but many were not taken into the final count in view of bent keels. The bodily condition of tho birds in general was good. A novice in the person of Mr. T. Baker won the championship in tho homer section with a bine chequer, with which it was hard in find fault, and which was shown in perfect condition ; it was of a fine type. The fancy pigeon championship went to Master ,T. Forster with a. yellow self tumbler of good type; it was quite a nice bird, though 'naturally a little soft in feather. Mr! Hooper commented with enthusiasm on a fine African owl cock, which was runner-up. but which lost the championship through having a kinked keel; he was also a little mean in tho frill. The display as a whole was a fine one, and tho judge expressed his pleasure at the wonderfully good entry. WORKING- lIOMERS Cock, red checker (4 entries) : P. Lines 1, J. F. Forster 2, C.
