BEATEN DAILY FOR 23 YEARS
CHICAGO, Sept. 26. Mrs. Sophia* Smolen came into the divorce court and admitted that some phases of married liie can become monotonous. She has been married to Jacob Smolcn for 23 years, ]0 months and 25 days and in her bill she charges that every day of all that time her husband has beaten her, sometimes with his lists, more frequently with a club. She charges that her husband has not worked for’ 13 years; living off her earnings from a tiny dry goods' store she established and maintained with her own earnings. Jacob’s she says, has a horror of work and his only exercise is found in beating her.
