Despite the general shortage of cash, there is a distinct feeling of optimism in the air, and people are beginning to prepare for Christmas. The busy housewife is hard at work with the spring cleaning and renovation of the home. Repapering the walls is a very inexpensive matter now that wallpapers are so cheap, And with such a huge selection to choose from at such a cut juice at Vincent’s, many will avail themselves of the opportunity to beautify their homes.* Following on- .the annual meeting of the Olympic Swimming Club, to bo held in the Carlton Hall on Friday, the committee of the dub has arranged for a special social and dance in which a hearty invitation is extended to members, supporters, and friends to bring their families and‘enjoy a good evening’s entertainment. Through the courtesy extended by the proprietors of the hall, Mr. Wreford Wade’s Ambassadors orchestra, no expense has been incurred by tho club to promote this fixture, which, in keeping with the times, will be free from gny admission charge. A varied programme has been arranged by Miss M. Keaaiy, comprising solos, national and fancy dancing, and concerted numbers, and the aim of the committee is to fill tho hall to capacity, having had the foresight to provide special attractions for children.
