EX-MINISTER PRAISED
CONTROL OF EDUCATION REPORT BY COMMITTEE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. In the House of Representatives, the Education Committb submitted a special report placing on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. H. Atmore during his term of office as Minister of Education, and expressing sincere regret that the Coalition had resulted in his vacating office. The committee stated that it trusted Mr. Atmore's services would not bo long lost to the Dominion, and that the recommendations' of the education report associated with his name would shortly be given effect to. Sir. M. J. Savage (Labor, Auckland W.) said he wondered what the Government was going to do about the committee's report. The Government had deliberately got riu of the Minister, and it soemed that the 'committee .was now. expressing no confidence in its action. He suggested that the Government should resign straight away. (Laughter.) Mr. .T. S. I’letcher (Independent, Grey Lynn) expressed regret that the Education: portfolio had been removed to the Legislative Council.
