Following the disappearance of the British youth Thorburn, Chinese military authorities are now detaining Dr. Francis Tucker, head of the American Board of Missions Hospital at Tchchow, northwest Shantung, as a result of the shooting and killing of a Chinese caught in the act of robbing the hospital. The local Kuomintang branch is demanding Dr. Tucker’s execution, and also an American apology and indemnity for tlie relatives of the dead Chinese.
