IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
DEBATE IN THE HOUSE LITTLE PARTY STING (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The continuation of the Imperial Conference debate in the House yesterday was 'devoid of particularly interesting features, as the sting of party opinion was absent. There was a faint sugges- ’ tion of this, however, in the attitude of Labor members who found themselves differing from a majority of the House ,in opposition to any scheme of bulk purchase of New Zealand's products by Britain. - The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates traversed important questions, stressing, in particular, the necessity for the development of inter-Empire trade, and advocating close personal contacts of Empire leaders to that end. The list of intending speakers had not been exhausted when the adjournment time arrived, and therefore the debate will be continued to-day and private members bills are expected to have some chance at the same silting.
