SEIZURE OF SPIRITS

NORFOLK ISLAND, July 13. A raid was made . recently on the premises .of a person suspected of slygrog selling. The local constable, iwjien ;.seut to search the premises,, fopnd nothing. On his returning to '.headquarters and reporting to that effect, -the Administrator, Colonel A. J. Bqiuiott, selected a laborer, workipg nearby’, swore him in as a special .constable, and dispatched him, all grime and dust as he was, with -a warrant to make an immediate and fur-: •ther search of the premises, the con-; stable going with him ah a witness. The; ‘•‘.special” is said to have secured a: considerable .quantity of imported; spirits and home-made liquor. At the, vPolice Coprt the occupier was fined by, Ithe Administrator £lO and costs for having the spirits in his possession.
