ADDINGTON SALES KEEN ALLROUND DEMAND ■ FAT CATTLE PRICES ADVANCE (Pnr Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The entries at the weekly market at Addington yards to-day were again of moderate side only, but the market was keen in all the major sections and late entries were well maintained. Store sheep.—A mixed yarding came forward with a free demand for all good classes. Prices were firm at late latcs. Values were: Good s.m. half and three-quarter-bred ewes, 13s to 15s; medium and 6-th three-quarter-bred ewes to. 14s ; good ewe lambs to 14s; good wether lambs to 12s; ordinary wether lambs to 8s; ordinary hnlfbred wethers, 7s 6d to 9s 6d ; plain halfbred wethers to 8s 6rl; merino wethers, 5s 3d to 4s 6rl. Fat,sheep.—An entry of 4000 head mot a steady and keen demand and a very good sale at values equal to those ruling at the previous sale. Extra prime heavy weathers made to 24s 7d, prime heavy 18s to 70s 6d, medium 14s 6d to 17s 6d, li<;lit. 10s to 14s, extra prime ewes to 21s 7d, prime 15s to 18s, medium, 11s to 14s. light- 8s to 10s. Fat cattle.—The entry of 355 head included consignments from Southland, Otago and North Otago. The quality improved generally. There was a keen sale throughout, and an advance on the lastmarket of 10s to £1 a head. • Best quality beef made 3'3s to 34s per IOOIbs, and in odd eases 355, good prime beef. 25s to 235; secondary hoof 20s to 245: rough down to 16s. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers to £ls 17s 6d, prime heavy £ll 10s to £l4, prime medium weight £9 to £ll, ordinary quality £6 10s to £8 10s, light to £6 ss, extra prime heifers to £l4 2s 6d. prime £8 lCs to £lO ss. medium £6 to £B. light to £5 10s, extra prime rows to £l2 17s 6d. prime £7 10s to £9 10s, medium £5 10s to £7, light- to £5. Fat pigs.—There was a medium entry and the demand throughout was a littlo briW. Choppers made from 50s, haeoners 38s 6d to 56s 6d, heavy bneoners £2 19s 6d to £3 15s, average price per lb 4-jd to 3?s 6d, heavy porkers 41s 6d to 45s 6d, average price per lb to 6^cl THE WESTFIELD MARKET SMALL OFFERING MADE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last- night. About half last week’s offering of beef cattle of all classes was penned at the weekly Westfield fat stock sale. Prices for extra choice ox were maintained at approximately into rates, at 27s per 1001 b. Choice ox firmed slightly to make 22s to 235, while choice cow and heifer beef advanced to 245. Sheep values again showed an increase, extra prime heavy wethers making up to 23s 3d, a rise of 2s 9d on late quotations. Prime owes sold from 13s 6d to 18s 6d, others -bringing 8s to 13s. Limbs sold readily at late rates. Calves were short-yarded, with values up for good quality kinds. Runners i brought from 47s to 109 s, vnalers from | 18s to 925. There was no demand for inferior or small grades. Pigs again were penned in small numbers. Baconcrs were easier and competition not-keen. These rnado from 60s to 745. Porkers were sought and prices firmed, rates showing 50s to 65s for wellfinished pigs- Stores .worn sold at late rates.
