AN OPPONENT FOR GEE FRANKLIN IN SPLENDID TRIM Since R. Gregory cannot fulfill his engagement with Len Gee in one of the principal bouts at to-morrow night's amateur boxing tournament in the Opera House, 11. Hennie, the Napier lightweight, has been secured as an opponent lor the Whakatane lad. The Gee-Hennie encounter promises to be highly interesting, especially as the former comes to Gisborne with a splendid record of successful performances, and those who saw the Bennie-Gregory ihout at the last tournament will recall the stirring exhibition given by the Hawke's Hay amateur. ■foe Franklin is in fine trim just now, and bis contest with Ted O.vley, of Pahiatua, is creating considerable enthusiasm among followers of the sport here. Oxley is a boxer of no mean calibre, in'fact, he has enjoyed more than his share of success in tho ring, and is capable of extending, if nut beating, tho Gisltorne champion, who will he. making Ins last appearance before com noting at the New Zealand championships in Ashburton on August 6 and 7. The visiting boxers are expected to arrive in Gisborne this afternoon, and to-night they will be engaged in light work at the Gisborne Boxing Association's training rooms in Lysnar's buildings, Peel street.
Eleven good preliminary bouts will make up what should prove one of the best entertainments of its kind seen in Gisborne for some timo.
