IRISH SWEEPSTAKE
SALES IN AMERICA VAST PLAN FRUSTRATED NEW YORK, April 12. A passenger aboard the Aquitania, whose luggage was searched because of the discovery of liquor, was found to possess 1,000,000 tickets for the Irish Free State hospital sweepstake on the Derby. If all had been sold they would have totalled £500,000. of which £BO,OOO would have been the seller’s profit. The tickets were confiscated under the Customs law forbidding entrance of lottery tokens.
