CROSSING COLLISION

MOTORIST INJURED CAR BADLY WRECKED (Ter Press Association.) WOODVILLi:, this day. A miraculous escape from death occurred at a railway crossing between Woodville and the Manawatu Gorge on .Saturday evening, when a sedan motor car driven by Mr. A. J. Bierre, manager of the Fletcher Construction Co., of Wellington, who was returning from Hastings with a companion, Noel Burnett, was caught by it railway engine from Palmerston North. , the ear was carried some distance along the track and badly wrecked. Mr. Bierre sustained injuries to the head which necessitated seven stitches being inserted, and Mr. Burnett also suffered wounds on the. head and shock, After being medically treated both men were taken in a private car to Palmerston North.
