Mrs. C. B. Sharpe, Gisborne, was a recent caller at the High Commissioner’s Oftjce, London.
Mrs. J. H. Jones is the first woman to stand for the Hamilton Borough Council, and will he a candidate at the forthcoming elections. She is well krfown in the district, and has a long xefeord of public work. In 1928 she was appointed a J.P., and shortly afterwards magistrate’s associate in the Children’s Court.
Rrigadier-GeneTal H. R Hart, who will leave for Apia to-day to take up his duties .1s Administrator of Western .Samoa, was farewelled by the Masterton Rotary Club last week. General Hart, who wait the foundation president of the rldfe, wa&'presented with a dock, enW»ved with the Rotary emblem, by the president, Mr. G. W.
