PRICES INCREASE AGAIN
FAT STOCK FOR EXPORT SHEEP AND LAMBS UP BY Jd. Tho fat stock schedule was raised yesterday by /d per lb. oil lambs and sheep, with' beef remaining unchanged. This is the second increase for lambs and sheep within less than a fortnight, the top prices now being 4|d for lamb, 2jjd for wethers, and 1/d for ewes, but very few ewes are coming forward. At tho beginning of last week buyers generally offered an increase of jd per lb. for lambs, bringing the top price from 4jd, the lowest level of the season, and for many years, up to 4/d, while wethers and ewes were increased by ill. Within less than a fortnight, therefore, lambs have improved to the extent of per lb, and sheep by jd. The new schedule, which 'commenced to operate from yesterday, is as follows :
Lambs.—U/361'bs, 4|d ; 36/42. 4/d ; 43/0. 3/‘d ; seconds, 3jjd. Wethers.—U'/481b, 2gd ; 49/56. 2RI; 57/64, 2d; 65/72, ljjd; 73/0. 1/d; seconds, l|d. Ewes.—ll/481b. 1/d ; 49/55, Id; 57/64, c|d ; 65/0, jd; seconds, ;jd. Beef.—Prime ox, 140/2201h, 18s; under. l ;, overs and seconds, 14s. FAT SHEEP. The entry of fat sheep totalled 550. Brisk competition prevailed up to the last pet:, with a- distinct advance, in values. Ewes sold from 6s to 8s 9d, most ot the entry realising Bs. Prime heavy wethers brought 10s lOd, others 8s lid. Among the lambs, one extra good animal made 12s Id, others ranging from 7s to 9s 2d. Prices: — Lambs.-—64, mixed first, and second grades, 8s 6d; 5 'Downs, 8s; 16. 8s 5d • V, 7s 3d; 6,7 s; 18, 9s 2d; 14, 8s lid; 1 extra good, 12s Id.
Wethers.—3 prime heavy, 10s lOd ;2, 8s lid; 4 2-tooth, 8s lid. Ewes.—lß. 6s 4d ; 29, 6s; 26, 8s 2d ; 25. 7s 9d; 26, 8s Id; 17. 8s; 28, 7s 2d ; 40. 8s 9d and 8s 7d : 14, 8s id. Second grade.—l 6 owes, 4s Id; 33 lambs. 7s Id; 5 esves, 6s; 42 ewes, 7s 6d ;48 ewes, 5s 9d; 26 ewes, 7s; 8 lambs, 6s lOd; 18 lambs, 5s 3d.
Deductions are made from the above schedule for seedy pelts, /d being taken oil for medium or heavy seed on sheep, while /d is deducted tor medium seed and -id less for heavy seed on lambs. The deduction for shorn latnlfs is jd.
