TWINS ANNOUNCED
4 WEEKS BEFORE BIRTH EARLIEST NEWS ON RECORD NEW’ YORK, March 4. The fact that a prominent American society woman was to become the mother of twins was announced in an ultrarespectable American newspaper justfour weeks before the twins were born. The mother is Mrs. W. H. Vanderbilt, the wife of a son of tho late Mr. A. G. Vanderbilt, a member of the United States Senate and a leading racehorse owner. Ho married Mrs. Vanderbilt, formerly Miss Ann Colby, in December, 1929. ’
The announcement that she would givo birth to twins—the first time such an announcement has been made in a news-
paper concerning any woman—was made, it appears, following an X-ray examina tion.
‘‘This is a very simple matter, and has been used lor years,” a doctor stated.
Mrs. Vanderbilt’s twins, two girls, were duly born a month after the tidings had been given out, and the latest report is that both she and her daughters are doing well.
