The, seas gradually became worse ami he decided to drift with the wind in the hope of landing down the coast. By steering the boat with the remaining oar ho managed to keep inshore and eventually landed at Kahatarnu Hirer, five miles away. His plight was noticed previously by a' fisherman, who set out on a search.
