DAMAGED PORT HOBART

TO CONTINUE VOYAGE PRELIMINARY INQUIRY i - (Per Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A preliminary inquiry was held at "Wellington by the Superintendent of Mercantile Marine yesterday into the cause of the mishap to the motor liner Port Hobart, through striking a submerged object off Turakirac Head. No report was made available. The vessel has been given a#eertifig- cate of seaworthiness and, having completed her discharge at Wellington, leaves there to day for New Plymouth. She will then proceed to Port Chalmers to the dry dock and later will return to New Plymouth to start her Homeward loading. The report of the diver shows that considerable damage was done to plates and the starboard propeller. General average has been declared over the vessel’s cargo.
