RADIO PROGRAMMES
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER GREATER LAXITY URGED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A deputation representing various debating societies, the V.M.G.A.. W.E.A., Pacific Relations, and a group of other bodies, asked the Post mast erGcneral to relax the restrictions now imposed on subjects of debate under the broadcasting regulations, owing to the strict, interpretation of the words “propaganda of a controversial nature. ’ ’ The Hon. J. B. Donald replied that ho was unablo to give an answer inimediately, but would do so in a few days. lie added that broadcasting regulations were being revised. Although the now broadcasting scheme would not he available for the piesent session, it prohbaly would he available before next session. A good deal of money was required for the earthquake, and the department would have to modify its scheme, but certain alterations would be made m the service from the beginning of next year. It was his desire to make the service as pleasant as possible for the listener, and at the same tune to make it educational.
