ARBITRATION COURT
GENERAL V/AG3 REVISION NO FROCEDURE LAID DOWN (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. No procedure has been laid down for reviewing awards in accordance with the provisions in the Finance bill, but it. will probably be the same as was followed in 1922 when, after hearing the representatives of t'he employers and the employees, the Arbitration Court made a general order covering all awards and industrial agreements without waiting for them to expire. The employers, on that occasiou, combined through their organisation, tint New Zealand Employers’ Federation, in making a general application to the court, and. no doubt, a similar action will be taken at an early date after the Finance Bill reaches the Statute Book. Naturally no date can he fixed tor (ho hearing of any application for a, general order until the legislation is passed. The Arbitration Court has practically concluded its present Wellington. session, and in the ordinary course of-events would not lie due to sit here again for some months, but it is expected that there will be a special fix turo to enable the general order application to be heard in W ellington. it is almost certain that the parties to the awards will be given a reasonable time to prepare their respective cases. Tlio court is due in the SJoutli l Island early next month and with the likelihood of the Legislative Council disposing of the Finance Bill at an early date, if looks as if the general order case will probably bo beard at the end of the present month or the first week or so in May.
