STATE THEATRES

PLANNED BY GREECE ATHENS, Feb. 9. As an important part of its educational programme, the present government has planned to build two national theatres in Athens, a winter one and a .summer one.

The only existing theatre which deserves the name is the small one on Constantino street that once belonged to King Oeorge 1, built lb) years ago on the model of the Royal Theatre nt Copenhagen.

It is this building which the Government lias decided to turn into a winter theatre. The radical modifications and additions which are to be.made are calculated to cost £29,400. Its present seating capacity is 1000, to be increased by -00.

The summer theatre will accommodate 2000 persons and will cost about £IO.OOO.
