BURTON CUP TOUEITEY SECTIONS FINALISED Sectional play in the Burton Cup tnurnami'iil conducted by the Oisbonic Bowling Centre was concluded yesterday afternoon with the completion of Hie ninth round in each section. hi A section, the Gisborne rink skipped by Kngcbret'son emerged as the leaders, while in R ami G sections the winning rinks were those skipped by Bragg and Kerr respectively. Gisborne, Kahutia, and Oncliunpa clubs, therefore, were represented in the post-section draw, and Rngebretson and Bragg were drawn to play off in the semi-final this ' morning. The ninth round of sectional play j provided the Gisborno rink with a "substantial win over .Martin's Kahutia four, the latter being unable to got going until well on in the match, Engebretscn being 14—1 at one stage, and eventually running out 23—10. Bragg, winner of the B section, and I Kerr in the third division had equally i clear-cut wins in their respective ninth- ; round matches, but these did not cause I the same degree of surprise. The I Onehunga rink has gone through undefeated in section [day. and was expected to provide a game out of the ordinary in the final, set down for this afternoon. Result's of the final games in each section yesterday afternoon were as under: A section.—Ninth round : Short 20 v. Blackburn 9; Murray 22 v. C. E. Smith lb; ■Engebretscn 23 v. Martin 10: Hopkinson 17 v. Morse 8; Maude 26 v. A. Smith 15. I) section.—Ninth round : Bragg 23 v. Morrison 12; Stoneham 20 v. Lougher 19: Armstrong 20 v. Sinclair 17; Rothwell 25 v. Somervell 20; McDonald 20 v. Crawford 19. O section.—Ninth round : Kerr 21 v. Hartley 12; Bell 26 v. Neill 20: P. Smith 17 v. Seymour 16: Hay 21 v. Hickman 12; Falconer" 24 v. Town 11; Coleman 21 v. Wilson 12. The best records in the. respective sections, up to this stage, were as under: — A section—Engebrctsen, 8 wins, 1 loss; Martin. 7 wins. 2 losses. B section.—Bragg, 8 wins, 1 loss: Armstrong, 7 wins, 2 losses; Rothwell, 7 wins, 2 losses. C section.—Kerr, 9 wins; Hay. 8 wins, 1 loss; Hartley, 7 wins, 2 losses.
