TROTSKY
WANTS TO VISIT AUSTRALIA MELBOURNE, Feb. 10. One of the foreign journalists living in Melbourne has received information from a well-known friend in Paris that M. Leon Trotsky, flic former Soviet leader, is trying hard to secure permission to visit Australia. The report from Paris, is that Trotsky’-s friends believe they might ge't him the permission if they applied through the Sydney Labor extremists. It is claimed, that Trotsky regards his political career as ended, and that, he wants to visit Australia solely to study the conditions and to enable him to write a book on the new democracy in the Southern Hemisphere. Other information received from Paris, however, indicates that Trotsky’s desire to visit Australia is inspired bv his friends in the Kremlin. He is thought to be seeking a reconciliation with Stalin.
