DRUIDS’ LODGE

QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of Turangauui Lodge, No. 7, U.A.0.D., was held m the Masonic Hall last night. There was a fair attendance of members, the meeting being presided over by Bro. John Jack* son, A. 1)., with a full complement of officers. The correspondence received was of a. lengthy nature, and included many interesting subjects, which gave matter for earnest debate. Amongst these was a communication from the Grand Lodge, suggesting a postponement for two years of the Grand Lodge meeting, which was to have been held on March 17. The suggestion was made on account of the earthquake disaster i.u Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa, it being stated that saving the expense of a Grand Lodge meeting, which ran into some £4OO, and devoting it to a relief fund for Druids who had suffered the loss of their homes and practically all their furniture, would be far better than proceeding with tho meeting at the present time. The fund, it was pointed out, would he controlled by the society. It wus unanimously to support tho postponement, and a donation of £lO was made to the fund, which makes in all a sum of £25 devoted towards the relief of sufferers. ‘A further sum of two guineas was passed to assist a brother who had lost his crockery in the earthquake. Letters of appreciation of donations made to the Wairoa and Eureka Lodges were received. A report from Auckland stated that Bro. A. S. Richards, late of Gisborne, was progressing favorably. Sick pay to the amount of £24 6s was passed -for payment. The bards’ report, on sick brethren was considered favorable, although the number incapacitated is still high. During the evening one candidate for membership was initiated with full ceremonial. Bro. W. 11. Pritchard was elected A.D. Bard, in place of Bro. J. A. Steven, resigned, lire. Wnreham, of Albion Lodge, Napier, was given- a hearty welcome by the A.D. and brethren.
