A GAMBIAN ADVENTURE

LONDON, Feb 17. It is feared that a British officii* litis lost his life in an extraordinary brigandage outbreak in the Gambia district of Sierra Leone. After the expulsion from French "ninea of a native thereof, the latter entered British territory, and, according to British official advices, gathered native followers. The position became so serious that a platoon of the West Africa Frontier Force was hurriedly dispatched. This was followed by another platoon. At present the situation is quiet.
