MOW H’s Done—-a friendly chat bv Don Bradman; and “(lid-fashioned Lockett ’ and "Our Bungalow ol Dreams”—piano solos by Hon Bradman are among the latest releases. Don Bradman's take on "How Its none.” conclusively shows the way ot the cricket Hold. If there are some who are a little mystified by the title of the talk, they can turn the disc over and hear Don Bradman play two little pic/es in his best manner. :Yai mai te panga ote hau (hymn—"Fierce' Raged the Tempest”); and Te Ariki liei a an koe noho ai (hymn—" Abide with Me”) are, wonderfully effective. There is a warmth and sincerity about the singing of these, hymns that should make, many choirs stop and think for a moment. Yelli d'Aranyi, that brilliant pupil, of .Joachim, is another world-famous fiddler to have her music-making oxtended within the range of a yet greater public. The fla.wlcss playing and

origiied choice of item which has characterised d'Aranyi's records is amply exemplified in the following record brackets: Grave, (Corti) and Souvenir (l)rdla) ; Jotii (Falla) tint! Melodic (Gluek-Kreisler); Poerne Hongroiso Hlubiiy) and Hungarian Dance No 8 (Brahms-Joachim). Tlir-i sweep and majesty of Elgar’s "Land of Hope and Glory” are adequately realised by the famous contralto. Essie Aekland, and with the assistance of a mixed choir and accompanied by Ihc band of the Coldstream Guards and organ, she makes it a lofty and inspiring song. Noble also is the singing on the same record of 'Sullivan's hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers," which is marked by a fervency that is most moving.

The lighter si dp of vocal music is well catered for in the latest lists, which include recordings from talking pictures by one or two primfe favorites. The American tenor, Gene Austin, sings "Under a Texas Moon” and'‘Telling It to the Daisies’ 1 ’ (But It Never gets Back to You), from the film "Under A Texas Moon." The vivacious comedienne, Helen Kane, is at her best in "I Owe. You," from Dangerous Nan M'Grew,” and on tho same record the light soprano, Anona, 'Winn, sings sweetly "Now I'm in Love,” from "Darling, J Love You.”

Miseha Elman puts some pletty violin work into his record of the Beethoven

‘‘Minuet in G,” with which is coupled his own arrangement of Arensky’s ‘‘Serenade in G Major.” llis tone is always warm, and in the ‘‘Minuet” gives all the lilt of the dance. There is some lovely detail in Hie ‘‘Serenade,’' and the performance is poetic as well as technically finished.
