Leaving Auckland at 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Pukeko experienced fair weather in the Lay of Plenty, reaching llick.s Bay in good time. After spending two hours there, she went on to Tokomaru Hay. where she arrived_ at 7.15 p.m. vesterdav. The vessel sailed again short!v after 11.30 o'clock last night for To'laga Hay. She altered her course, bin before entering the roadstead at Tolaga Lava, message from the shore indicated thai the conditions there were not suitable for working the vessel, so she put about after _ losing fully hall'-an-bour. and arrived in the Gisborne roadstead at 4.30 o'clock this morning. Captain Jones, who is in command ot the Pukeko, stated to-day that the engines had functioned perfectly. _ The vessel had maintained a very consistent timetable since replacing the Awnhou in the blast Ooasl service, but her last trip bad been her best so far.
