THE WEATHER
(Last Night's Forecast) There is very little variation ill pressure over the eastern Tasntan Sea and New Zealand, but a moderate anticyclone covers Eastern Australia. Winds, light to moderate, variable at first with northerlies prevailing, but southerlies setting in later. Seas generally smooth to moderate. Tasman Sea: Light, to fresh southerly winds and smooth to moderate seas' in the eastern Tasman. Weather, dull and misty, with some ram in most' districts, heavy falls in parts of the North Island, with some thunder, scattered and showers m the south: sultry at first, but cooler to-mor-row. (To-day's North Island Report.) Unin fell at all stations between Auckland and Napier last night. Kxre.pt ill Wellington, where blue skies wcre : in evidence, overcast conditions wore general throughout the North island this morning, with the wind vnrving from south-westerly at Auckland to northerly at opotiki. northwesterly sit Ciisborne and Wellington, and southerly at Napier. The seas wore smooth at Gisborne, Napier. Wellington, and Tiritiri, and moderate elsewhere. At 9 o'clock the temperatures were: East Cape 70 degrees, Cape Palliser 68, Opotiki, Gisborne and Napier 65, Auckland 03, Tauranga and Wellington 62, Tiritiri 60, and i Castlpoint 58.
