AMUSEMENTS
THE REGENT Tbe feature at the Resent Theatre, "They Had to See Paris," is decidedly new and novel. One aim has been set by the producers' and that is to make the audience laugh. They have certainly hit the funny spot, and it would be a dour person indeed who did not enjoy a, heurty laugh at the many humorous and hilarious situations presented. The picture serves to introduce Will Kodgcrs as a talkie artist, and the introduction is decidedly good. As a comedian Kodgevs has always been recognised as one of the best. He litis the ideal capacity Of the true humorist; you laugh with him, not at him. Many pleasing gags and dances are introduced, and the pictures of domestic and night life in Paris are very entertaining. An excellent cast supports Will Kodgers in this happy presentation. A comprehensive programme of short features rnakes up a decidedly good bill of fare. THE MAJESTIC There is something about a horse race that set's the blood tingling. One feels ho wants to shout as the trained thoroughbreds' thunder down the straight, and it is this very feeling that prevails when one sees the present Offering at the Majestic, "Little Johnnie Jones." It is a racy, bright, and amusing talkie. Home wonderful racing is seen and certainty no finer portrayal of a classic, race with a big field of lirst-elass horses has ever been shown on the screen at the Majestic. The production is really a musical comedy, and it simply sparkles with lilting song numbers and original ballets. The star who plays the lead is no less than Eddie Buzzell, rated as one of the most popular comedians in America to-day. and even in London he was acclaimed a rival to George Kobey. Hi& comedy is of the surprise nature. One never really knows what he will do next. In "Little Johnnie .Tones" he hubbies and sparkles from start to finish. Anniversary Day will mark the commencement of the annual tournament 'conducted by the combined bowling and lawn tennis'clubs in Tolaga Hay. The competitions will extend over four days, and the proceeds will he expended on improving the grounds belonging to th< /tolaga Bay Howling, Club. On Anni versary Day, night dancing and various amusements will be held on the howling greens, and tor this patrons should weni canvas shoes. In previous years lliii fundi.m has provided one ol the principal entertainments lor residents n Tolagft Ihiv and surrounding districts and the forthcoming tournament, am accompanying entertainments shonlt prove equally attractive.
