Aeroplane patrol of the beaches in the viqnity of Sydney during the surfing season last year proved that it was possible to give early warning of the approach of schools of sharks towards benches, and thus enable surfers and beach patrols to take effective measures in (insure safety protection lor those* in the water. Arrangements have been made to continue the patrol service from the air during the present surfing season for the beaches of Maroubra, Coogee, Little Coogee, Bondi, and Bronte. There will be a half-hourly patrol of these beaches from the air on each Saturday and Sunday afternoon during the surfing season. Yesterday morning at the Boy Scout camp at Bimuroa station was spent in examining the boys in different branches of Scout work, and all acquitted themselves well. In the evening a full parade was held, at which Mrs. I/. Bilvorwood presented the prizes won at Iho sports gathering at the camp on New Year's Day. Two special prizes were presented, one to Norman Carter for being the best trier and the best loser in flic ramp, and the other to “Boy Cordon for being the most unlucky hov, in that he competed in every event, and sprained his ankle in the last, lor which injury he received treatment by Mrs. Silver wood. The hoys have been receiving some useful instruction in signalling, and last night two parties went out over the hills, and exchanged Morse signals.
