INCREASE CERTAIN
UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY FUNDS INADEQUATE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. W. E, Leadley, a member of the Unemployment Board, told members of the Christchurch Unemployment Committee that the proceeds of the present tax of 30s a year were not nearly sufficient to provide either work or sustenance for all those in the Dominion who were sadly in need of it. There was nothing surer, he added, than that the. levy would he increased by the. next session of Parliament. Air. Leadley also made it clear that the Unemployment Board, realising that, it might not lie able to find work for all those who wanted it, was making provision for sustenance payments, hut there would be adequate safeguards against these deteriorating into the dole.
