To have his outboard motor jmn|> off liis boat iind tip him and bis companion into the liver was the misfortune which befell Mr. Tom Madge at the Fox ton beach. He was trying out a new boat, which had been specially made by his companion, Mr. ,J. Joseph, to suit Mr. Madge’s racing engine. Tfie engine, through being insecurely screwed to the transom, jumped off, and causing the boat to "snake,” precipitated both occupants into the water. The accident was particularly unfortunate for Mr. events in the Wanganui regatta this week. A cylinder of his engine, upon being immersed, filled with water and burst, and the owner may have difficulty in restoring his outboard, to running order in time for the regatta.
