TRAMWAY ECONOMY
POSITION IN WELLINGTON (For Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. So far Wellington trnimvaymen and the City Council have arrived at no agreement in respect to proposals of the management for a reduction of overtime. The union has made a counter suggestion'of a day off fortnightly. It is said that this would mean a greater wage loss than the loss to the department, hilt upon a matter of principle the men favor it; The general manager, Mr. Cable, stated to-day, commenting on the result of the meeting in Christchurch, that anything in the nature of an ultimatum would he unwise at present, and that was recognised by the Wellington tramways employees. * There had been no spirit of antagonism during the discussions, and he believed, a satisfactory solution would be found.
