CAPT. MATTHEWS’ FLIGHT SYDNEY, Dee. 28. Only a small knot of people saw Captain Matthews off on his. return flight to England to-day. His little, Bo Havilland Puss Moth, in which he came from England, has been overhauled. He carries a spare propeller, and sufficient fuel for 18 hours’ flying, giving practically a 2000 miles cruising range. Captain Matthews expects to hop off from Darwin on Thursday on his first sea leg of the journo v.

ARRIVAL AT BRISBANE CONFIDENT OF RECORD (Received Dee. 29, 10.40 a.m.) BRISBANE, Dec. 29. Captain Matthews has arrived here and leaves for Longreach this morning. He says he is confident of lowering the flying record from Darwin to London.
