Such a course will only cfelay. and defeat tho object of the applicant in securing early relief. Before payments are. made,, or can be considered, each case will require consideration.
■ Null publicity will he given as early as possible of the procedure to be followed bv those desiring to obtain sustenance,’ It must he noted that applications must be on the forms provided, and until they are available locally it is useless writing either to the local office or to, the board in Wellington. Forms will be. available, at every Labor Department bureau and local Post. Offices in time, for applications to be m.ade on February 1. After that an, investigation will be made and the applications dealt with locally with the utmost expedition. No sustenance payments will be made to persons who have not paid the levy, op are. unable to work owing to illness or physical disability.
PAYMENTS IN AUCKLAND 600 MEN RECEIVE 1-1/-(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The first sustenance payments in Auckland uurler tho Unemployment Act were made to-day. The council found work for 1055 men ancl 600 more reported at 0 o’clock this morning. No work being arranged for them, they were told to return at, 2 o’clock to receive 14s each, the equivalent of one day’s work.
