MANY MILLS IDLE APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE (Per Press Association.) GIIEYMO'UTH this day. The Grey-Hokitiika Sawmillers Cooperative Co. passed a resolution to bring under Uip notice of the Unemployment Board the present restricted condition of the sawmilling business and consequent unemployment, and to suggest the establishment of a building promotion division of the board to encourage immediate building operations with the use of Dominion material and manufactures.
A resolution added that sales of the company's timber had dropped £8 per cent, from May to November, the mills being closed. A total of 25 other mills was working to only 20 per cent, capacity, and 650 men were unemployed.
