OIL CURE
QUEENSLAND FIND The mystery of an age-old fatality in the Longi'each (Queensland) district appears to have been solved at last. Death, it seems, was due to cluonie dyspepsia ; and. incidentally, the discovery may yield an important, clue in the Australian oil search ! Examining the fossilised remains of.a plesiosaurus, alioiit 251 t. in length, in the course of his geological survey work, Mr. J. F.-‘Foster, formerly of the Victorian Mines .Department, and now a member of the stall' of Oil fiiciirch. Ltd., an Australian company, has discovered a number of greenish colored pebbles embedded in the limestone below (lie ribs and backbone.
These pebbles, of metainorphous or igneous origin, are foreign to the locality, and were apparently in the stomach’ of this denizen of a prehistoric sea. Whether they were the primitive equivalent of “pink pills for paje people” or whether they got there as a result of indiscriminate gluttony has not been established, but it seems obvious that the unfortunate creature must have suffered acute digestive troubles. Mr. Foster, however, is not so much interested in the fate of the plesiosaurus as in a piece of conglomerate rock which was apparently among the contents ,of the stomach, and which, if its <tfgin can be discovered, may afford valuable evidence as to tiie conditions of the formation of oil in the district.
