The annua! meeting of tlie Murchison Oil Co., Ltd , was held in Auckland last week. T lie directors’ report stated that an additional £1378 was subscribed bv shareholders during the year. Tu March the directors were invited to place a definite proposition before one of the leading English oil companies, and full data, maps, and proposals were sent ito England. After a good deal of delay and several cablegrams had been sent, advice was received from the English company mentioned that after full examination of the limps and reports, their geologists were of the opinion that tlie area of the sedimentary rocks was too small to justify their interest. By the last outgoing mail a further effort has been made to interest in the project certain people in England, who are interested in oil production. The directors consider the position in New Zealand does not justify any appeal being made to the public at the moment.
