GALE IN FIJI
SERIOUS DAMAGE DONE SMALL VESSELS WRECKED (Elec. Tel. Copyripht—United Press Assn.) (Received Nov. 25, 2 p.in.) SUVA, Nov. 25. A strong gale was experienced in the Fiji group on Sunday afternoon and evening. Suva suffered no damage, the centre of tho storm seemingly being at Ovalnu Island, where many native villages were blown down, and the T’urotu mission damaged. A report that two natives were killed and-three injured is not confirmed.
Some damage occurred at Loretto mission, and also to plantation's, and in Levuka town. The Government steamer Derek is ashore at Savnsa’vu, and a cutter is ashore at- Loloni. The track of the storm was S.S.F. The greatest force of tlie wind was 71 miles, and there was heavy rain. Tlm Wnidau pineapple plantation building's, were damaged. In the Hewn district two motor launches and several cane and other lighters were lost. The river is in flood and it Is feared that heavy damage will he done to native lisnaiia plantations, as tin* river is full of floating banana plants.
