The work of boring for an artesian supplv of water, as supplementary to die Wainui supply for Wellington, has been delayed through an accident to the man in charge of the operations. Once the boring begins in earnest it will not take long. The bo>-es at Tetone and the Lower TTutt are 120 and 200 ft in depth, depending on the lav of the strata of gravel through which the water runs freely enough, and with sufficient gravity pressure to force it to the ton there seems little doubt that a flow will he tapped. This method of securing water is by far the most economical known to engineers,.
