FIRST MEETING HELD (Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, this day. Presiding over the first meeting of the Unemployment Board to-day, the Hon. S. O. Smith stressed the need for team work, congratulating members other than the Government nominees upon having been selected by the people they represented. It was gratifying to the Government that the board met with almost universal acceptance. lie wished to make it quite clear that there would be no Government control of the board, only the greatest possible- assistance. Ho hoped that the hoard eventually would do away with the need for the Act, and that industries would bo stimulated and unemployment abolished.
