Mr. F. G. Staff, late of the Masonic Hotel, Gisborne, and the Masonic Hotel, Napier, has taken over the Waverley Hotel, Auckland, succeeding Mr. -T.j L. j Winter, who has retired. J A present prominent visitor to New '■ Zealand, Bishop Anmdale, is lecturing to enthused and interested audiences in tho larger towns. His present itinerary at Dunedin includes a civic reception at . the Council Chambers, a University ; luncheon, an “At Home”,nit Upper Studholme House with Professor Strong as host, and public lectures on Right Education ; Democracy, False and True; Krishnamurti, A Great Messenger; and The Psychology of Yourself; in the Town Hall.
Mr X. F. Lowdnes, formerly of Gisborne and lately established in Sydney as branch organiser for the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Association, paid a brief visit to his relatives here overnight, in the course of a journey through New Zealand. Mr. Lowndes lias spent some months abroad, accompanied by Mrs Lowndes, who is also a member of a Gisborne family. Lis travels took .him through Canada and the United States, Great Britain and the European countries, and his sojourn abroad included a stay at Toronto for the duration of the insurance corporations biennial convention, at which he represented his company. He was the first Australian or New Zealand officer in what is known as the “milliondollnr group” to personally attend the convention.
