MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
SHORN SHEEP EQUAL WOOLLY
The Matawhero stock sale yesterday was fairly brisk throughout with generally good competition at the easy prices now ruling. The total entry of store sheep was 3865, which was about double the advertised' number.
Shorn sheep Were yarded in good numbers, and in many cases the values quoted by buyers were nearly up to those for woolly sheep. Spirited' competition prevailed for shorn two-tooths. Woolly ewes with lambs sold up to £1 Os 2d, and to £1 for lines with lambs well on towards freezing standard. A number of good pens made 16s to 18s. Woolly hoggets were worth up to 16k sd, this figure being given for an outstanding pen, which comprised about the best yarded at Matawhero this season ; they were exceptionally big hoggets, all fat, anil with a great growth pf ' wool. Fairly good lines realised from 11s to 13s 4d.
Shorn two-tooths sold up to 11s for fairly good wethers, and 10s 3d and 10s Id for good mediufn lines.
Woolly two-tooth ewes reached 18s 6d fpr a well grown pen of sheep, which were all about fat. Others made fronr 15s 7d to 16s 2d.
• Woolly dry ewes sold at 9s for 4 and 5-year and 7s lOd for fairly good sorts, while a line of shorn ewes in forward condition brought 7s 34.
