VICTIM’S WIDOW COMPENSATED
PARIS, Oct. 25. Charles Ilarataud, who in June, 1927, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Devil’s Island, the French penal .settlement off the coast .of South America, for allegedly murdering a taxi-driver, has written, instructing his counsel to pay the man’s widow, Madame Fame, 132000 compensation. Counsel is arranging the payment. It is noticed that Barataud no longer protests Ids innocence.'
