TE HAPARA IN THE LEAD SUCCESSFUL SALE OF WORK The closing stages ol the popular git I campaign, organised t-o raise itnuls J ()1 furnishing St. Joseph’s Convent, which is situated on the property adjoining tho new Catholic School in Childers road, sees To Hapara, candidate, -Miss K. Alley, leading by a substantial margin of votes. The campaign concludes at 11 o’clock to-morrow night., when the winning candidate will be announced' at the sale of work, now being held in tho City Hall. The position of the three candidates last evening was as under: To Hapara (Miss K. Alley), 6053 votes ■■■ ■■■ •••■ 4 Kaiti-Whataiipoko (Miss M. Jones), 4997 votes ... City (Miss K. Buscke), 4338 votes ... 3 Success attended the sale of work, which was opened last evening by Father Murphy, the attendance being good, despite the inclement weather. Three largo stalls, representing the three territories of the respective ’candidates, attracted much attention with their tempting displays for home-made foodstuffs and charming fancy work, while several competitions, conducted by Messrs. T. Haisman and B. Mitdhell, enjoyed brisk business. The stalls were under the supervision of Mrs. J. J. Keane, To Hapara; Mrs. J. O. Jones. Kaiti-Whataupoko: and Mrs. \V. McDonald, Giiy. Mrs. G. 11. Kreals was in charge of the. supperrooms. The sale will lie continued to night, and to-morrow evening.
