SHUNTING ACCIDENT

MAN’S LEG AMPUTATED

(Per Pisbs Association.). DUNEDIN, last night. A serious shunting accident occurred at Burnside this afternoon, when an assistant district railway engineer, Charles Gardiner Wilson, was run over by some trucks which were being shunted on to the Burnside freezing works siding and received severe injuries to both legs near the ankles. Mr. Wilson was immediately conveyed to hospital and was admitted at 4 p.m., when it was found l that his legs were so severely mangled that amputation was necessary, lie was operated* on early in the evening. Mr. Wilson is a single man.
