UNEMPLOYMENT ACT
AN UNFAIR RESPONSIBILITY (Por Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last; night, Surprise was expressed at a meeting of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-day at a clause in the Unemployment Act making it an offence, punishable by a line not exceeding £2O, for employers to retain the services of any person who lias failed to register, or pay instalments of the levy imposed under tho Act. It was considered that tiffs placed an undue obligation on employers. It was decided to refer the matter to the Associated Chambers' of Commerce, with a view to taking concerted action. Small, chairman, of directors of the Kainutga Co., was to-day nominnttfd to represent; the primary producers on the Unemployment Boarf3 by the Wellington district factories.
