ROADS AND RAILWAYS

(To tlio Editor of the Herald.) Sir, —T was disappointed in “Fangscrew’s,” reply. He failed to answer ray arguments and indulged in subterfuge. Tf ho used more login and less nonsense in his correspondence it would improve his writing. He tried to be funny at the finish but as a wit he’s a failure. He writes about competition being the soul and spirit of commercial life. Quito so, but I pointed out tho most unfair competition of a few greedy motorists against a groat national property.-* Tho Government has the moral right to the traffic that our railways were built for. Tho public demands railways. They are built at public expense and the public should use them and not allow others to filch their business. Render under Caesar that which is Caesar’s, but be sure it is Caesar and not the Seizor.—yours, etc., J. BAYLISS.
