Answering a question in the House of Commons in regard to British representations to the French Government, representing the position of British, holders of i 919 French war bonds, Mr. Snowden stated that he regretted that tho reply received from the French Government was unfavorable, and expressed his inability to grant any equitable compensation to British holders. The matter was under consideration by the' Treasury. ATr. Snowden added that the per capita taxation of various countries wits approximately as follows: —
