A striking expression of confidence in Australia’s future, despite the present complications, is embodied in a Financial Times editorial, which expresses satisfaction at the triumph of moderate opinion at the Federal caucus, stating that this implies honoring the pledge given by Mr. Scullin.
It adds: “It will be necessary for capital an.d labor to move on more or less parallel lines. There is no ground to apprehend other than, a satisfactory emergence from the troubles which are little more than skin rashes, when considered in • relation to , the underlying vitality of the economic structure of the Commonwealth. , “There was never any substantial justification for - fearing that Australian credit would not be buttressed by appropriate’action by both the-Common-wealth and States. A great deal to stabilise Hie financial position has been done al-eadv and the aggregate of progress is material."
