PRISONERS SENTENCED
10 YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The following prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day: (diaries Bennett, alias Richard Jones, 24, and Leslie Dickson, 24, seven charges of breaking and entering and theft, at Auckland, Thames, Tauranga, and tyhakatane, reformative detention, Bennett for two years, an,d> Dickson fo;\18 months; Nai Rangihaka, 30, breaking and entering and theft, three charges, six months’ imprisonment. George Dawson Barrett, for rape at Paei’oa. received 10 years’ imprisonment. The prisoner protested his innocence before sentence was passed. “I don’t beJjeve you for a moment,” said Air. Justiro Smith. He described the crime as terrible, the girl being only nine years. Tho only tiling tho judge could do was tq send the accused out of society for a very long time.
